KAN TABS FOR KIDNEY KIDS UPDATE

KAN TABS FOR KIDNEY KIDS

Thanks to all those people who are sending in can tabs, teartab lids off food cans and wine caps to help us recycle and sponsor Kidney Kids (click to link to the website).  Room 1 counted all the tabs and worked out what it equates to in dialysis time.

If you follow the link above to the Kidney Kids website you can find out how it all started and hat happens with the recycled Kantabs - No they do not pay directly for dialysis but the funds do go to Kidney Kids who need other treatment and to support families.

At the end of Term 4 2016 we had collected

Jesse and other students have brought in 10 kilos of cantabs and wine bottle caps - Payment equates to approximately $11 per kilo so we raised $ 110.  this doesn't sound much so Room 1 read the Kidney Kids information and found out that our 10 kilograms joins the 3 tonne collected by Lions Club which raises a whopping $33,000!!

We are one of the few schools who are collecting cantabs for Kidney Kids and we are very proud of the children recycling and giving to the wider community PLUS they earn heaps of house points.

ENCOURAGE ALL OF YOUR FAMILY AND THEIR FRIENDS TO COLLECT FOR US

PLEASE KEEP COLLECTING OVER THE HOLIDAYS

The cantabs you can send to school have to be metal and the following photos show what to collect.  Please take the tab off food cans before you send to school.  We have just found out that the metal neck of the wine cap is also collectable, so carefully with a knife split the neck and send it along too.
